The tradition of hanging mistletoe at Christmas dates back to the 1700s and originated in England. Back then, a man would pick a berry each time he kissed a woman under the mistletoe. Once the last berry was picked, the magic was said to be gone, and the kissing under the mistletoe would end for that year.
